Adventure vacations in Wyoming

Regina Liberatore Centered Riding Clinic

Overview

Regina Liberatore is a Level III Centered Riding® clinician and Level IV apprentice, returning for her second clinic at the Bitterroot. Regina has been riding and involved with horses all her life. From the age of 14, she qualified and competed at Madison Square Garden in the first of many National big equitation finals on the East coast. After a successful junior career, Regina progressed to training young show hunters for the arena. After a major injury, Regina relocated to Colorado. She was introduced to Centered Riding® in 1998 by Susan Harris. Centered Riding® became an excellent base for Regina’s own riding and physical well being. It is no wonder she is using it to bring the same success and joy to her students and their horses.

Regina has worked with many disciplines of riders and levels of horses. She has been successful in providing tools and insights into new ways of riding for her students. She specializes in creating or increasing harmony and understanding in equine partnerships. Regina continually studies and improves her craft. She is trained to watch how the rider’s body moves and she uses this to improve biomechanics for both the horse and rider which creates lasting awareness and enjoyment for her students.

Riders will learn the Centered Riding® basics, to increase their body awareness in order to maintain a dynamic balance and freedom of movement with their horses. These basics will be explored in groundwork exercises, as well as in the mounted sessions daily. This will allow for the ability to release unrealized tension in the body that inhibits the flow and ease of the connection with the horse. Learning these basics and the tools to explore them has an empowering effect for the students and they can take on to each mounted experience.

In addition to her Centered Riding® education, Regina is a successful competitor in dressage as a USDF silver medalist and “L” Graduate, and as a USET Bronze and  Silver Medalist as part of the Rolex Talent Search.

Guests stay in comfortable log cabins on either side of the river which are situated for privacy and to afford magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.

Meals are taken in the main lodge and particular attention is paid to the cuisine and wines served.

  • Overview:
There are over 120 riding horses on the ranch, consisting mainly of Arabians and Quarter Horse crosses (14-16hh). The Arabian horses are raised and trained exclusively for the use of the guests, who often like to visit the mares and foals. The horses are trained western and are used to being neck reined; they do not go on contact. All guests are asked to post the trot and to stay in two point or galloping position for the canters and when climbing hills. This is important to us as it keeps the horses from getting sore backs.
  • Equipment Required:
Helmets are required, there are some available to borrow.
  • Horse Breeds:
    Quarter horses, Arabians, draft crosses
  • Trip Pace:
    To suit riders
  • Tack:
    Western and Endurance
  • Weight limit:
The ranch has a limited number of horses for riders over 180 lbs.

There are no separate activities planned for non-riders, who can take advantage of this unique location to fly fish, hike and visit with the ranch animals. With a rental car the town of Dubois is about 40 minutes away.

Hadley teaches four flowing yoga classes a week in the ranch’s yoga yurt, Monday and Wednesday afternoons, Friday mornings, and Saturday afternoons. The classes are designed to stretch the muscles that typically become sore during riding. They are friendly for people without much (or any!) yoga experience, but they also offer something to the more experienced yoga practitioner.

At the ranch. We can provide details for services for transportation from the Jackson Hole airport or the Riverton airport.
